  1. So I got this today and it's worth the price of admission for the dog fights alone. The X-wing / Tie Fighter mode is soooo good. Reliving a lot of childhood daydreams in there.

One gripe (aside from all the normal gripes) is I wish they would randomize the teams after every match ends. It's kind of annoying to have the one hotshot pilot guy on the other side killing everybody, only to face him and the same team each and every time unless you quit out of the mode and go back in.

  2. I read through the whole art book, and where this comes from is basically the artists were given free reign before the script was in to come up with scenes or story beats on their own and explore them. Some of those ideas were brought into the script much later but most were not. This was one of those ideas.

The weirder idea was actually very early on that they would somehow go to the ruins of the second Death Star and look for the location of ancient jedi temples that the Emperor had kept in a file in this throne room/office. (this would replace the whole map thing in the final film) The catch was that it was under water.

And if I'm remembering, that idea wasn't an artist idea but had come down from somebody involved with the script.

  3. Sad R2 and Sad Chewbacca were both heartbreaking. :( Almost more then the reasons for them being that way.

I dont think there was any point to the red arm, no. Just normal wear and tear? Though 3po did bring it up casually.

Also Snoke is interesting to me. I don't think he's anywhere near as large as that hologram would make you believe. I think Andy Serkis said he was supposed to be like 8 ft or something. BUT he looked like he had some serious battle damage. So I'm wondering if maybe he got into a fight or two with Luke in the past, and maybe that's why he's so fixated on him.

  4. Just got back. I can absolutely see the ANH similarities, but I never thought that it was in my face. It felt like just the right amount of callbacks.

Still processing the whole thing, I'm going to see it again tomorrow afternoon.

Rey was really great and I liked Finn way more then I thought I would too. The movie was funny but not TOO funny. Again, it felt like the humor level was at just the right amount.

THE Death though.. I'm not surprised but I'm still gutted. :(

Some other thoughts. The Knights of Ren.. They were mentioned a couple of times and it's interesting that they only showed up in that weird force flash back/ premenition thing. I suspect we'll see them again. They mentioned that Luke had been training a new class of Jedi, but I'm wondering now if they were all students that Ren was eventually able to sway.

I thought the way the Starkiller Base charged up was really cool.

    BB8 is adorable.

Harrison Ford was great in this. Grumpy old Harrison Ford was kept to a minimum. There were lots of moments where I thought to myself "This isn't old Harrison Ford, this IS HAN SOLO."

I kind of suspected that Rey was the real Jedi and not Finn. But I'm glad it happened that way.

Also, everybody thinking Rey was going to be Han and Leia daughter, but instead it's Kylo Ren! I did not see that coming. (though it's still possible for Rey to be their daughter, or even Lukes daughter... but I really hope that she is not related to anybody we know.)

The creatures that Han was smuggling just before he caught up to the Falcon.. Those are the only things that seemed a little silly to me. For all the talk about practical effects wherever possible, those things were as in your face CGI as anything in the prequels. And I don't know how it really helped the plot. But minor gripes.

Also was expecting to see MORE of Phasma, but I can appreciate why they kept it brief.

Another thing that stood out to me. NO Disney logos at the beginning. I was really pleasantly surprised when the lights went down and it just said "Lucasfilm" and went straight into it.

  5. I'm just about done working my way through this. There are 3 endings, so I'm trying to get the rest of those and finish off the rest of my trophies. Super great game! I find myself getting lost in it for hours and hours at a time. Couldn't recommend enough

As for the building, you actually dont have to do that at all if you dont want to.

  6. To be clear, I don't think Finn is dead - I just think he's been severely roughed up in his conflict with Kylo we've seen flashes of.

I'm pretty sure this is what we are looking at. The shot even shows what looks like snow falling and the background looks similar to the shots we've seen of Finn and Ren lighting up their sabers in the snow.

  7. Pre-ordered mine on Amazon yesterday so I'd have it waiting on me when I get home from work Tuesday. I don't know if this applies to everyone, but Amazon instantly gave me ten bucks off of it when I ordered for some random reason. So that's cool.

they have been doing that with a lot of new releases lately if you pre order. it does apply to everybody, but still very cooll

  8. Tough to see properly but these don't particularly look like the flametrooper designs we've seen in the promotional material so far. Plus they all seem to have capes. And that pike.... hmmmmmmmmmm.

Edit: I see you posted a shot right before me. lol

  9. Could be a Knights of Ren appearance in the rain/lightning shot. Could also just be lackey troopers with him.

In the shot with Han, Finn, and Rey walking up with all the banners, the Mandalorian symbol is visible for a second at the very top - potentially interesting.

That is a great find! I didn't notice it until you said it but it's definitely there.

  10. Lots of interesting shots in there.

The shot of Ren on a bridge surrounded in a red light. What is that? Are they testing whatever super weapon they have, and it's the beam outside of the window?

The shots of the snow planet show a very long, very straight line in the planets surface that seems to match up with the 'death star' looking thing in the poster.

Clearly Rey is being painted as the lead character here. Leading in, it sure seemed like Finn was the main lead. But Rey is all over this trailer and has top billing on the poster. So thats interesting and cool.

And the best thing that I saw in the trailer, LOTS of dogfights. The PT criminally underused actual space battles and it's great to see those get the proper attention again.

Edit: Yes I love how bottled up the story is even now. We have no idea what is going on and this is the last trailer we are going to get. Love it love it love it.

  11. I think this is something we already knew but Admiral Ackbar is confirmed for this.

In an interview with The Australian, actor Tim Rose confirmed rumors that he's returned to the franchise to reprise the role of Admiral Ackbar in Episode VII: Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The character, who famously exclaimed, "It's a Trap!" was a fan favorite due to his exceedingly alien nature and oft-quoted one-liner.
Rose said he's "very frustrated" by the secrecy surrounding the film, but excited to be back in the role, despite the difficulties.
"It takes a unique sort of masochist to ever want to do it in the first place. But the joy of doing it is the joy of animatronics, and that's taking the foam latex, an inanimate object, and making people think it's alive," Rose said. "I'd like to think I gave Ackbar something special which you can tell. I think you can. I can tell when I see my friends who do specialised and full body suit work no matter what character they go into; I can tell you exactly who it is because I know their movements so well."
The character of Ackbar has appeared in other media, including a young version in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and appearances and mentions in books and comic books. The recently released Star Wars: Aftermath, which takes place after Return of the Jedi, includes references to the Admiral. He also appeared in the Marvel Comics mini-series Princess Leia.
The actor also hinted that fans of his last appearance should be very happy with the new movie.
"What I can say about the new movie is that if you were a fan of the original three, you're going to absolutely love this one to bits," Rose said. "You can expect a smorgasbord of people you love."

  12. Very well done indeed! I can attest that cutting out the soda and trying to exclusively drink water helps waaaaaay more than you think it should.

(update while I'm in here, but It's been about 14 months now since I started and I seem to have settled at the 70 lbs loss area, which is right where I wanted to be! so huzzah! )

  13. They said he's doing the theatrical poster also.

But I do like this one. Interesting Rey is front and center. Loving the blue tie fighters on the right of the image too. Han looks a little tacked on down there, but overall it gets me even more excited.

  14. Gah, that really sucks. I'm kinda the same way in that I've never had to go to the hospital ever before in my life. One of these days though.....this type of thing is my greatest fear.

Hopefully the infections all stay away and you can get the hell out of there soon.
