  1. There is a valid argument to no Robin, that being child endangerment. However this is why Nolan ignoring Robin was so annoying to me, he had the opportunity to tweak the lore. Bruce rescues orphan, orphan trains at the Batcave and mans the Batcave Computers / remote controls the Batmobile. Something like that should work for people with that endangerment point.

No other argument against Robin works, imo. Plus ignoring Robin robs Bruce of the only growth he is ever allowed to have; the perspective of a father and saving his childself by saving Dick Grayson et al. Gotham is a never ending war, but the "Bat-Family" is Bruce winning battles.

  2.

Dini, Harley's creator, talks about 35 secs in.

Essentially Dini was creating some henchmen for the Joker, then on a whim he thought about making one a female, then he started imagining his friend Arleen Sorkin as this character, then he remembers she essentially played this type of thing on Days of Our Lives, then he literally bases the two tone design of her costume from that episode.

Whether he started down this line of thought to avoid the Joker jumping out of a cake, I dunno. It was serendipitous however as Arleen was available and a comic icon was born with her performance.

Edit in: Harley's gnarly look they use in the film and modern comics just may have been lifted from Alice Cooper, I dunno. Originally she was designed in a very classic way to match the original Batman four color designs.

  3. I love TAS Harley; that accent, the costume and the dynamic between her and Joker. I am only tolerant of the Roller Derby version of Harley which this film seems to favor (because I feel the visual change damages her uniqueness, she feels more Barb Wire or something like that now).

I like Harley because she is a formidable menace for Batman who isn't a twisted reflection of Batman, whereas his other villains are. Harley is instead a twisted reflection of Robin.

  4. I think Ma Kent is reacting as a mother to seeing the world hate her son. Still meh for apathy, but if that is the context it's an understandable emotional response.

I also feel what Krawlie is saying about WW, but I will hope (perhaps foolishly) that her arrival is a result of the Amazons sending her to end the strife these men are causing.

Afterthought: Lois seems regulated to Superman's Girlfriend. Almost feel that moment with Perry and Clark should be with Lois instead. Of course that's knowing nothing of the film, just looking at the trailer as a whole piece.

P.S. It flashes by quick, but wasn't that a Robin suit all Jokerized in Bruce's trophy case? Yay if so. Should mean life was happening prior to MoS and we don't have to sit thru the origins of Robin of Batgirl of Joker of... yeah.

  5. She is smoking hot. I know nothing but Google Images about her however.

Also in DD news the Punisher was seen on set, he's sporting a severe buzz cut. Yes, a hair comment from Torch. XD

  6. I never had an issue with Affleck as Batman, he is the batman animated series real life analog. The more I see of him as Batman just makes me more hopeful for the film. Without Affleck or Batman, not sure how jazzed I'd be about MoS again. No offense to Cavill, like Routh the actors weren't the problems with the respective Supermans.

  7. The BvS universe already has dimensional/interstellar travel, time travel is in that same wheel house of science fiction. The DC Universe proper and it's various adaptations are full of time travel as well. The BvS Universe is also bringing in The Flash, who's modern lore is based around time travel.

  8. Superman has his own private army? Oh my. Perhaps more like Lex has his own private army of Supermen. I have a feeling both cloning and time travel exists in this story. The end will be the beginning and the heroes will get it right with that second chance, moving forward with the Justice League.

  9. Still think a Young Han film is been there done that. Han was 30 in the OT. To get younger than Ford in the OT we'd be raiding Disney Channel for talent.

I think the best course of action, granted I am little more than an idiot with no marketing data etc etc, is to focus on Ewan as Kenobi and have his film(s) do much of what Disney wants done with these others. Have him cross paths with Boba. Have him team with Chewie. Create new younger characters he teams with to then spin off into During and Just After the OT Anthologies. Build around Kenobi and that 18 years of no information. Leave Han sitting solo in the Cantina waiting for Old Ben to show up.

Batman and the Outsiders except Kenobi and the Rebellion, do a cast of five (Ewan included) because homage... Star Wars: The Red Five (not Rogue One, gawddammit). Star Wars Dirty Dozen. Mix in some Indiana Jones feel with Kenobi being that adventuring intellectual, perhaps hunting jedi artifacts. Make one of his young newbies into the old ass jedi artifact hoarder that's rumored for the sequel trilogy.

  10. In regards to moving to a better neighborhood, re: Burt

I did this recently. I moved my family from a densely populated, racially diverse neighborhood. However I moved not because white people, or black people, or asian people or whatever... I moved because dangerous and criminal activity were rising. I don't know who was doing what just that these activities where happening. My new neighborhood is still racially diverse, but there are less people here and we're all hard working families focused on being hard working families. My point being it's not skin color that makes neighborhoods horrible it's poor single people.

  11. True. Things Matter. :-) That should be a bumper sticker.

But as much as this is said to be about equality, this... changing a character (or not, in this case) and the outrage over it is actually the reverse of equality if you just stop and think about it for a second.

Peter is a straight white nerdy male, but demands are that he be changed so differences are celebrated, validated and others can identify with his story because History.

    This is a false premise.

Differences are celebrated and validated by accepting what is about a person not by changing a person to reflect you.

The intention should be questioned here and the intention is vocal for all to see. The proponents for this very just cause of equality and acceptance are breaking their own position.

  12. At a certain point the only true question is; If color/sex/age don't matter why do we care one way or the other?

I don't need Benjamin Sisko to be white...

I don't need Ellen Ripley to be male...

I don't need Tom Sawyer to be thirty-seven...

...to idolize, identify with or imagine being.

The argument that I'm white or male or whatever makes this different and I can't understand because of that is faulty logic because that is arguing that those DO matter.

So either everyone gets on board and says these things don't matter, that character is that character, or all these things do matter and the terrorists win. 'Murica!

  13. The backlash on Facebook feeds my angsty soul. Calls to ban the rainbow flag. Stuff about how the Supreme Court can't write and sign laws. Even Greg Abbott - my states governor has piled on. I just know that this Friday was the happiest day on the internet.

Well that bolded specific is a rational concern regardless of any persons' position on what a government should acknowledge as marriage. Not that this is a new thing, nor literal... For all intents and purposes however. Of course how one goes about expressing that concern and with what regularity prior to this could say something about their actual concern they're hiding within this one.

As I love to "preach" be aware of context; who said what? why did they say it? who were they talking to? have they said it prior or since?

A fair, but still open, picture of a person and message can be ascertained with these questions. Fair warning; you'll probably just realize you wasted your time and those people are 'tards. Still a good habit to have anyway.
