  1. Krull was the bomb, I can tell I'll rewatch it in the future. It's just a fun adventure movie with great characters and music.

So I watched Friday the 13th III! So it starts off with a disco sounding track LOL. I thought that had died by the early 80s? So...this is by far the worst one so far. The story, the writing, the characters, the acting...oh boy, the acting. It's just so bad. All the characters are so vapid, there really isn't anyone to root for here except Jason. But he finally gets the trademark mask!

One of the best bits is early in the movie when a biker gang is in the convenience store and one of the main characters gets held up by them, right in front of the cashier who does nothing LOL. Of course, they get killed when they show up at the campsite, except for one who manages to wake up after getting the beat down from Jason earlier. He comes to and and tries to attack Jason only to get hacked up seconds later. I had to laugh because the girl trying to get away would be wondering where this random biker dude came from.

And the movie ends with the Final Girl getting into a boat to just drift around. It worked in the first one since viewers wouldn't have seen the jump scare coming but in this one you're expecting it, so it's dumb. I guess the surprise was that it was Jason's no longer headless mom jumping out this time?

There's an odd timeline thing in this one. The FG tells her sort of boyfriend, who had a neat eye popping death scene BTW, that she ran into Jason in the woods months earlier. When would this have happened? I'm not sure how much time passed between 1 and 2, a year since that's how much passed IRL? But 3 picks up immediately after 2. I guess she ran into him prior to the second one but it just seemed weird, also because he was running around without a face covering.

And then it ends with that same disco track! I do not recommend the OST for this one.

  2. Yes, you just see her scream after finding the dude's body! They don't even show her body later, oddly enough. I did have to laugh at how the "You're all going to die!" old dude is one of the first to go LOL. Like, you know the camp is cursed, so..go hang there at night? Makes sense.

Oh! This one did not take place at Camp Crystal Lake, it was at a neighboring camp on the same lake. Interesting fun fact to use for a trivia contest.

  3. Friday the 13th part 2! Sticking to my October horror movie watching. Guess I could put this on the horror movie thread, too but whatever. So no hockey mask yet, just JV in in his overalls and a bag over his head LOL. He's not that intimidating in this one, even one of the dudes in this manages to fight him off. I mean, he loses but he lives to the end.

And that's another thing, this movie introduces multiple characters that end up surviving! The final girl, her boyfriend and the funny dude. Funny dude only lives because he stays late at the bar instead of going back. We never even see him again. Sometimes it pays to party all night.

I see this one started the nude scenes and the gore, you had the one girl skinny dipping and you actually saw most characters getting killed in this one. And they had like a whole 30 second shot of that girl's butt in tight jeans, they knew their audience back then!

  4. I agree, Majors is awesome in the part. Not exactly comic accurate since Kang is supposed to be from the future and not the 1800s. Guess they gave him a little bit of the High Evolutionary's background for the MCU!

  5. So I finally got around to starting this, I only watched the first one so far. So that opening was...yeah, that was a thing. From the first episode alone, it's already worse in terms of content. I don't mean the series is bad, but it's more twisted? To characters getting killed by menstrual blood to...small person sex play, think shrunken down Wasp with a normal sized man, it's an interesting show so far! It's kind of like the X-Men to the Boys Justice League.

  6. I watched The Thing! So I thought I had already seen this but I guess that was the prequel one. So that worked out because this one starts where that one left off. This movie has some of the best and disturbing practical effects I've ever seen! Ending to this one is way better than the prequel since it's so ambiguous. "Let's just...wait here and see what happens."

  7. Second one was a bit slow, doesn't feel like much happened other than finding out where Sylvie is. Bit odd an Asgardian sorceress would choose to work at a McDonald's but whatever makes you happy LOL.

  8. More horror movies for October!

V/H/S 85: Weak entry IMO, the only good one was the lake/family part of it. The rescue worker one was pretty dull, the video tape killer one was okay and the lab monster segment was....well, the end of it was funny.

Totally Killer: I wanted to like this one but it was only okay. I know they had to incorporate time travel into it but couldn't it have been the MC being chased into some lab or something instead of her high school friend's science experiment that just so happened to be a time machine LOL.

But great casting for the characters! The younger actors really did look like younger versions of the older ones. I felt like it petered out in the end, when they got the killer it was just like "Oh, it was them, well, they're dead now." 7/10, worth a watch but not as good as it could have been. I would recommend Happy Death Day as a better horror comedy that involved time travel.

You know, with the deep fake stuff, they could get look-alike actors and touch them up with CGI.   It would have to be easer than a full on deep fake like they did in Mando.  I remember some people wanting Sebastian Stan to play Luke.   He's be about the right age to do it now.  Anthony Ingruber should have been Han in Solo.  Billie Lourd would make a good Leia.

As for Anakin, I would think Luke communes with his spirit.  I doubt Leia would want to, though.

If they had Billie play Leia and they gave her the sidebuns, I'd keep thinking of her as Chanel #3 from Scream Queens LOL.

  10. Yeah, not the greatest finale. I feel like they just decided to throw in a bunch of action for it but didn't move the story forward enough for a season ender. I knew it would be a cliffhanger ending when it was over halfway through and we hadn't seen Baylan or Shin yet.

Hey, I saw someone on Reddit suggest Jonathan Frakes for Baylan! I have a hard time seeing him as a villain type, he always seems too nice. Think he could pull it off? I don't know if any of the big Trek people have ever starred in anything SW related before.

  11. No One Will Save You! Interesting take on the home invasion type movie as this this time the intruders aren't human. There is also almost no dialogue in the entire movie, either, I think there are two lines total. Wait, no, there are other lines but you won't understand them LOL. I liked it, 8/10 for me!

  12. It's not bad but it is a very by the numbers super-hero movie. I'd still recommend it, worth seeing on streaming at least. The characters are likable and it was neat seeing Ted Kord's costume, even if it was just on display. Not much else to say about it, honestly.

I’m playing this with Game Pass. The game is running just fine in 4k with my RTX 3090. I don’t want to mess up my achievements by using a mod.

Don't worry, someone will release a mod that lets you keep getting achievements at some point!

  14. I loved it! Granted, I've watched all of CW and Rebels, so this is all just gravy for me. Even though it was cloudy Clone Wars, it was still awesome to get a bit of it in live action. Hayden as Anakin was really good in this, probably better than all his scenes in AOTC and ROTS.

And is this the first time we've seen Ahsoka without some type of headband? It was...odd. No wonder she always has one on!

  15. Spacehunter! For a movie with that title, one would think there be more...space in it? Maybe the space he's hunting is personal space since he's supposed to be a loner LOL. So this movie was super campy but really fun, I get the impression the cast had a blast making it.

There's so much random stuff in this movie it feels like the writers were throwing in everything they could think of. The main guy's android with built in melting feature in case it gets "killed" (why LOL), the scavengers, Ernie Hudson's militia character, some weird blobby melted fat guys? I don't know what they were supposed to be. The mutant kids who seemed friendly until they started lobbing molotovs. A bunch of underwater amazon women and then some dragon lizard thing shows up. This scene also had my favorite exchange of the movie!

Amazon: "Looks like a good breeding man."

Amazon: "I bet breeding with us would kill him."

    Wolff: "I'll take that bet."

The villain was great, too, even though he gets offed pretty easy. Dude was really hamming it up, his "I lied!" line was great. Overall, I liked it but I felt like it was more of a lighter Mad Max type movie than a space movie. This really could have just made this a post apocalyptic movie and left out the space parts since they weren't really relevant to the rest of the movie.
