I thought the first episode was fun. The tone and visuals were bright. The episode also had that classic “It’s complicated” Trek undercurrent to it. I liked that each main crew member had a moment for them.

I think that's one of the things I don't like about Discovery, they don't let you get to know the side characters. Like the two helmsman (helmswomen?), I barely remember their names half the time. And after watching three seasons, I still don't know much about them.

Well, I HOPE it is good.  Six episodes is not all that long when you think about it. I just hope we don't get another BOBF level of Star Wars.   Ewan's scenes are sure to please, but I am worried about the writing.

It doesn't but compared to a movie it's a lot more than what we would get, 6 hours vs 2 or 3. I love that we're going to see how that animosity Owen had towards Obi-Wan came about.

And has Kenobi's time on Tatooine "uncivilized" him? Using a blaster, for shame!

  3. I was waiting for that credits scene! I knew that character had to make an appearance before it was done. Overall I enjoyed it even though I would have liked a bit more MK action. I agree the god battle was a little silly but I liked Layla's Wonder Woman moment. :D

  4. Really is one of the best "super-hero" shows ever, I never got tired of it. Really liked the ending, too, I feel like the three seasons were just enough without overstaying it's welcome.

  5. Just saw this over the weekend! So it was not very good, Holland was okay as Drake but he seems more like teenage Nate at the beginning of Uncharted 3 than the adult version. And then there was Wahlberg, who was awful as Sully. At least they managed to give him the mustache at the end. :P

It borrowed a bit from U3 (plane scene) and 4 (pirate ships), with a bit of 1 (helicopter bit). Guess they are saving Elena for a sequel if there is one. Actress playing Chloe was okay but she didn't do much other than tag along and then was gone for the third act. Some decent action scenes but overall pretty forgettable.

  6. You're in for a ride! It's such a fantastic show and even has a good ending. I don't want to spoil anything but the dance off battle on the psionic plane in the first ep of season 2 and the Bolero scene in season one are two of my favorite scenes from this series. And then there are the awesome covers they did for the soundtrack!

  7. So I watched it this weekend aaaand...really did not like it at all! Definitely took a lot from Se7en and I found it hard to believe no one took his mask off either of the times he was knocked out. They even took him to the police station the first time, are you kidding no one even took a peek?

And why do they go to the trouble of establishing he has been around for a couple years and criminals are afraid of him but then the random gang at the beginning are like "Who are you?" Really, dude, are you from out of town?

Speaking of that scene, did anyone laugh at the "I am vengeance!" line? It just seemed so corny, I preferred the 1989 "I'm Batman!"

Anyway, the 1989/Returns and Nolan trilogy movies will be what I recommend to anyone interested in Batman.

Not everything happens at night, but it is visually very dark. Visually, I would compare it to my memory of Se7en. I haven't seen it in years, but I remember it being very dark, even in the daylight hours. Most of the movie is at night, though.

Didn't help that it was overcast and raining during the day in Se7en, too! Brightest part was at the very end, strangely.

I tried, I hated it. It already had marks against it being fantasy, but I DID unexpectedly love Inquisition so I have it a shot.

I hated the feel of ii— the controls seemed counter intuitive, the response awkward,  and the combat just sort of unrefined. I know I’m in the minority, but it just didn’t FEEL fun to play.

Weird, I thought the controls and fighting were pretty fluid. Now Valhalla, on the other hand, feels like a big step backward in gameplay! I still haven't finished that one.

  10. Yeah, it'll be weird, It's hard to keep the show in the 80s when the kids are looking so much older. But I feel like it needs to stay in that decade to work. Kind of like the Indiana Jones movies, they work best in the 1930s and don't feel the same once out of that period.

  11. I'll throw in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey! I hadn't played an AC game since 3 but was pulled back in with this entry due to the ancient Greece setting. If you get it, play as Kassandra, she is the better main character IMO. The dialogue choices will be the same but the voice acting for her is awesome.
