  1. The new republic being dumb is 100% the fault of JJ Abrams not having a single original idea and just wanting to do rebellion vs empire again. Now these in-between shows have to make it happen.

  2. I knew Filoni wouldn't break his own rules. If Palpatine couldn't find his way into the world between worlds, there was no way Anakin could. It was all in Ahsoka's mind.

  3. The show is just too dependent on a cartoon. I mean why would based on whats established in this show the audience care about Ezra? Its not like Luke Skywalker who is one of the most beloved characters in pop culture history. Same goes for Thrawn, we hear if he returns itll be war, but why? What about him? Nothing like that has been established. Its kinda crazy. It goes back to a couple things. Firstly just this intertwined storytelling between series with characters appearing across them and all that. I just dont like that kind of storytelling. Beyond that it goes back to the hierarcy of Star Wars. You make an Obi Wan show you don't need to establish Obi Wan or Vader or Leia or Bail or any of that because there is basically no one watching Obi Wan who doesn't know all about them. The same thing goes for Andor, you can make a safe assumption that the vast majority of viewers saw Rogue One. Thats not the case here, or at least they should hope its not. If this show is limited to Rebels fans thats a problem. At least I think it is. I mean people are going to say "I have to watch a friggin cartoon to get this?" I mean where does it end? Making a show where you have had to play a video game? Read a book? Read the back of action figure packages? As for the episode it kinda fits right into what I was saying in my last post.

  4. My wife and I got in a stupid argument one time. I left the house and got no farther than 30’, when bird poop dropped dead center on the top of my head. I told her that I hope you’re happy, because even the birds are shitting on me. We both laughed about it.

  5. Yes! Supermassive's The Devil In Me came out last November and was a reasonable success... but, like comics, it's a very insular world and hard to get into.

  7. I like this comment - so true, a whole back story hinted at in a very short scene. Glad you are enjoying it. I do think that like in the lead up to the MCU tv shows that they could have done a little 5 min thing on Disney+ to give a little background to some characters less familiar. But hey - it is what it is!

  8. Because the characters care, and they seem authentic about it (ie, it doesn't seem contrived)? I mean maybe I'm just a cheap date, because the first marvel movie I saw was Endgame, and I enjoyed that too. But it seems to me that you don't always have to see behind the curtain to understand what the characters are doing, or why, or to empathize with what they're trying to accomplish. Point is - I'm sure the story is more interesting to people who have seen it all, and who know the history. But the story is still accessible to the people who are new to these characters, and I think that's what matters.

  9. I’m talking to IDW a bit— but even the smaller guys are struggling right now. IDW cut all their original books and are only doing licensed titles as its the only thing that sells.

  10. I haven’t watched any of the cartoons, ever, and I have no problem following it or understanding that there’s some gravity to certain things happening. The flashback to the clone wars in tonight’s episode was compelling, even having never watched any of that stuff. There are some things that are obviously callbacks that I know I’m missing. But I just think about those as if they are obi wan throwing out clone wars references in ANH. I don’t have to know everything. And it seems crazy for the creative team to be building this huge body of Star Wars material and then be expected to somehow try to keep it all insulated from each other.

  12. I fully believe mainstream comics is a real bitch to break out in, especially since the medium is not attracting a huge audience anymore outside of manga. I guess I was thinking along the lines of something from outside of one of the big two publishers, like Dynamite or maybe even Dark Horse, or perhaps even something even more independent or even crowd-sourced. I know the big money isn’t there in any of those cases, but since it sounded like there is a rut with things the way they are now and I didn’t know whether any of your movie work might be able to help get you an in somewhere if you wanted something different.

  13. And the New Republic is right back to being the same old Republic. I didn't like seeing Mon Mothma look as weak and inept as Chancellor Valorum in TPM.
