  2. Europe is (or was) pretty cheap to get to from the UK. Return flights to most places can be under a couple hundred quid. When I went to Spain I got a deal where the ticket was only £1 but still had to pay departure tax so it was like £30 return. Ridiculous. Getting to the Pacific Islands and south east Asia from New Zealand (where I was living at the time) are the most affordable travel destinations (except for going to Australia). But yeah, I'm very lucky *privileged* to have been to the places I have.

  5. They could've nominated the most conservative, right leaning Democrat on the planet and the Republicans have painted him as radical left. It's an old favorite, and the base eats it up. The Republicans are far, far better at branding and staying on message than Democrats, and always have been. I ****ing WISH Biden was radical left.

  8. Yeah, to say those fans whose favorite character was Boba Fett are the same fans who have become the toxic internet/social media trolls is a huge stretch.

  10. Every kid I grew up with knows Boba Fett's name from the action figures. They're not cultists, they're kids who grew up in the late 70s early 80s when these were the most popular movies in the world for this age group. There was Star Wars or The Last Starfighter. It wasn't even close. This cult fan fiction you've created is not my experience. Maybe your town was different than mine, but Boba Fett was and still is a household name for boys of my generation. I remember a bit on News Radio where Joe Rogan's character hid a spy cam in a Boba Fett action figure. That was, what, late '90s? It wasn't

  12. Not many: Indiana Ohio (well, I drove the length of it, and stopped at a few bathrooms and coffee shops) Illinois Pennsylvania Massachusetts (I just spelled that correctly first go, yay me!) Texas Louisiana And I kind of waved at upstate New York from the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, but I don't think that counts... If we add in countries, I've been to Canada and Greece. That looks like Canada Geese. I have yet to find a state I would prefer over Michigan (not like I've been to so many), but my favorite city is New Orleans, for sure. My sister served in Americorp in Wyoming, Ariz

Apparently if I were rich I could get her into a fancy drug rehab program place group home but I can't afford 40 grand for the fees a month. Once she lives here and we get her on Texas' version of medicaid I am going to look into that. Meantime, I may have to quit job number two when I need it the mostest. I think it's just hitting her hard that this is it. She's leaving the house she knew for 28 years as home and that Mom is truly gone. I am working from home during covid for sch

I will count the ones I have lived in, visited, stayed overnight in, etc, but not ones I have just changed planes or drove through without stopping to do more than fill up gas, eat, or use the restroom in. Massachusetts New York New Jersey Pennsylvania Delaware Maryland Virginia West Virginia North Carolina Florida Ohio Illinois Arkansas Louisiana Texas Colorado New Mexico Utah California Washington Alaska Hawaii (Bonus) Washington, DC (Bonus) Puerto RicoIf I included states I have driven through or changed planes in, I would add the rest of the south east and Oklahoma.

  18. I got through my day of teaching. Fortunately, my two classes are back to back so I only have to be on campus for two hours. I had two face masks layered along with a face shield. i had a little trouble catching my breath occasionally, but I think a lot of that was nerves rather than the masks. My students said they could hear me fine with all of that on, even from the back of the room, which is great to hear. It also looks like I've got good groups of students in both classes. Everyone was wearing masks without me having to ask them to put them on and seemed to understand why the mask p

  24. You know, I'm just throwing this out there. Most of us have been posting here for years, and I think most, if not all the trolls are gone. This thread caused me to think, and it seems a lot of us collect one thing or another, and others are parents who have to shop for their kids (EG kids books or clothes). This means that a lot of us might have things we no longer want, and considering craigslist is often full of scammers, and ebay has some outrageous prices depending on what you are looking for, I wonder if it wouldn't be a bad idea if an admin created a private forum here on nightly, w
