  3. Fun Nightly news: Leatherface is now on Peacock! Xfinity cable subscribers have just been given sneak-preview access to NBC/Universal's new streaming service, which doesn't officially launch for one-'n'-all till July. There isn't much there yet -- three kiddie cartoons, NBC shows that are already on Hulu, trailers for stuff they'll eventually have (the Saved by the Bell and Punky Brewster revivals, Brave New World with Alden Ehrenreich) and some 478 movies. I went through all 478, which had far more "classic" films than Netflix and Hulu combined...and, as you'd expect for a startup streamin

  4. I was drunk the very first time I met Jacob. And Seth. And everybody else I met that day. I'd be drinking on the airplane on the way to San Diego.

  5. One day I was drunk three times in one day. I went to a morning wedding with brunch and got drunk on mimosas. I went home and napped. Went to the Royals game and got shit faced tail gating drinking beer and then sobered up during the game. After the game we went out and I got shit-faced on long islands. Those were the ****ing days.

  8. Our rule in college was no drinking until noon-oh-five. Clearly we hadn't discovered mimosas yet.

  9. The top clubs out here are asking people to pay now and they will refund at the end of the season. Its nuts. Our club is supposedly in that elite tier but definitely not at the top of the heap. They have asked for a down payment but have said they will prorate the season but not charge us until we start playing. I think they are being very reasonable. They are also offering to let us out of our "contract" with them if we are not happy within 30 days of returning to play. No other club seems to be doing this. I admittedly don't think they are the best club around (they're kind of disorganized),

  10. I think one of the issues with the PT and how it looks and how those looks has aged is that Lucas didn't just say "I'm going to use all available tech to make the movie look the very best it can." He specifically wanted to show how far CGI could be pushed and used it when practical effects would have worked better knowingly. The OT pushed specal effects forward immeasurably but out of need to make the best movie possible. With the PT Lucas was obsessed with again pushing movie making forward but I think somewhat at the expense of the actual movies he was making.

  11. I'm a shift worker. I count using my days off and shifts at work rather than days of the week. Nothing much has changed with the lockdown for me, it's just I'm getting more overtime due to sickness and I'm correspondingly more tired. Also, shopping is more of a ball-ache, but more pay = more takeaways delivered to my work address.

  13. Honestly, while they're kind of fun in a horrifying way, they could be used against people to harass or blackmail them. We had well-known, established members do it to people back in the day to threaten jobs, lifestyle, and even grades in a class. I think most of us have grown a lot in the last 20 years and maybe some of the stuff that was funny then isn't as funny now. Even letting logged in members have access is probably not a good idea. Some of us are jerks.
