  1. For a brief moment in time (still plausible), I honestly expected Snoke to be a harbinger of a bigger galactic threat that would eventually spin off from the main saga and was purposely established in the story of this sequel trilogy to weaken the galaxy further for the arrival of a Vong like military force. I don't think any of the EU should be taken off the table in terms of what they could use later on down the cinematic road.

  2. The big difficulty is that LWW is the only one of the (early) books to have a huge, epic storyline. Prince Caspian had the closest to it, but still small scale in comparison and a considerably more straight forward story, from what I remember. After that, they become very different sorts of stories that don't lend well to being the same type of movie. They made so many changes to Caspian and Dawn Treader to try to force them into being bigger epics. If I recall correctly, Dawn Treader had a lighthearted exploration story in the book, albeit with darker portions with the slavery plot line.

As I remember it, Lucas had some sort of rough outline with notes of what he had planned for episodes 7-9, but not really anything fleshed out beyond that. And since Disney basically scrapped those ideas (at least officially) and they weren't released to the public, I think chances are we will never know what they were, exactly, but I think there was an overall general plan. Here is an interview of Mark Hamill that is interesting. According to Hamill, Lucas wanted Hamill to reprise the Luke role in 2011: Here is an article that has a video that is

  6. Started and finished the season today. Loved it for the most part. Some of the Eleven stuff was uninteresting. I laughed and cried and laughed again. Then cried again because it was over.
