Thoughts Arising From A Conversation

Posted by CitizenGirl , 26 April 2007 - - - - - - · 317 views

A conversation with a friend made me wonder about emotional vulnerability...

What does it take to be vulnerable?

Just thinking about what conditions have to apply before we can allow ourselves to bear our heart and our souls. And what circumstances make us regret our vulnerability and withdraw from the situation at hand?

First of all, and most importa...

Subjective crystallisation of thought

Posted by CitizenGirl , 13 June 2006 - - - - - - · 321 views

It's amazing, isn't it? How you can be so sure of yourself in one moment and then every ounce of courage falls out from underneath you in the face of the truth. Truth from whose point of view? Who sees truth? Who am I to say that in the eyes of others, the visions they encounter are similar or exceedingly different from my own?

But who sees the truth.

102 movies you should see

Apparently these are movies that, Roger Ebert says must be seen before...::something dire::
Bolded are the ones I've seen. 67 in all... just over half.

"2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968) Stanley Kubrick

"8 1/2" (1963) Federico Fellini
"Aguirre, the Wrath of God" (1972) Werner...

Life's a mime...Or a pile of wood and feathers.

After a couple of hours of sending customers running screaming in terror from my maniacal gesturing (likened to Marcel Marceau on speed)--in an effort to make myself be understood--I decided that being at work with a bout of laryngitis really was unproductive, and I was better off at home where the public would be spared my less than stellar mime imitatio...

Typing a melody

I wish that words were music. I can think of the melody I wish for a journal entry or a story to take. Harmonies and rhythms seem to lay there at the base of my consciousness, threatening to spill free if I can break through that layer that's holding them. And they're so close, so near, that I can almost taste the melody.

I can hear the sweetness...

I went on a date the night before last--not the most stimulating of experiences. The conversation was intelligent and diverse enough, however his sense of humour was glaring in its absence. I had to resist the urge to duck out of the restaurant, find the nearest book store and purchase a copy of the Oxford dictionary.

Movie Musings

Posted by CitizenGirl , 18 May 2006 - - - - - - · 78 views

I have began to think of myself as being "movie jaded", blockbuster after so called blockbuster has left me feeling somewhat...I guess to be blunt, feeling ripped off. Armed with high hopes I would trudge off to the local theatre to view the last cinematic offering only to leave disappointed and with the realisation that once again I had been dupe...
